How to turn off Sticky Keys on Windows 10

If you are a gamer, you would have noticed that when you press the Shift key 5 times back to back, Windows gives you an alert asking you if you want to enable Sticky Keys. Today, we are going to take a look at how you can disable sticky keys and not get that alert anymore.

For those who don’t know, Sticky Keys is a feature in Windows 10, which, when enabled, allows important keys such as Shift and CTRL to stay active without the need to press them every now and then. This feature was added keeping disabled people in mind, for their ease and comfort of use.

Let’s take a look at how you can disable Sticky keys on your Windows 10 PC/Laptop –

Method 1 – Using the Sticky Keys icon on the Task Bar

  1. For this method, we will first enable the Sticky keys Icon on the taskbar. Press the Shift key 5 times in a row on your keyboard, and you should automatically see the Sticky Keys icon on your taskbar.

  1. Double Click on the Sticky Keys icon to bring up the Sticky Keys Settings.

  1. Uncheck the boxes in front of the ‘Turn on Sticky Keys’ and the ‘Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times’ options.

  2. Sticky Keys will now be disabled.

Method 2 – Using the Windows 10 Settings

  1. For this method, we will use the Windows 10 Settings. Search for Ease of Access in the Cortana search bar and select the Ease of Access Keyboard Settings.

  1. This will open the Relevant settings in a new window.

  2. Toggle the switch next to Sticky keys to the off position. Additionally, you can toggle off the Sticky keys shortcut also to avoid prompts in the future.

Using these methods, you can turn off Sticky Keys in your Windows 10 PC/Laptop.
