We meet new people every day in our daily life and when we hit it off, we eventually feel the need t contact them on a regular basis. Also, if you are in the corporate setting, you end up interacting with many important people on a daily basis and in order to keep the conversation flowing, we tend to save their contact details on our smartphones. Over time, the contact list can reach seriously large amounts, and when the times comes to change your device, the prospect of re-entering all contacts can be haunting.
Fortunately, the Android OS allows you to easily export your contacts to a secure location before you change or reset your device. This helps you easily restore all your contacts easily without having to enter a single field.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to export contacts on Android.
Step 1. Tap on the ‘Contacts‘ on your Android smartphone.
Step 2. Tap on the ‘three-dot‘ icon on the top right-hand side of the home page.
Step 3. Tap on the ‘Import/Export Contacts‘ option from the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Now we have two options to export contacts. Let’s take a look at both the alternatives.
Option 1. Export to Storage.
Choosing this option will compress all your contacts and save them as a .vcf file on your SD card. Once you complete the restore of your device or replace your device, you can insert the SD card and tap on the .vcf file to install all your contacts into the device once again.
Option 2. Share contacts.
If your device does not support SD Cards, then you can also share your contacts list in the .vcf format to any of the available options. This includes sharing on WhatsApp, regular SMS, or even saving to the drive. You can use these alternatives to quickly reinstall your contacts after you complete the restore operation or replace your device as a whole.
One more feature we have seen is that if you have an Android device, your contacts are synced automatically to your Google Account. So, if you buy a new Android or iOS device, you can simply log into your Google account and your contacts will be installed onto your new device.
